Illness Policies and Medical Info

No child will be accepted with the following symptoms:

  • fever in the last 24 hours. (This means if you had to give your child medication the night before for fever, your child cannot come to daycare in the morning.)

  • vomiting

  • diarrhea

  • Pink eye

  • runny, crusty eyes

  • unexplained rash

  • constant and severe cough

  • constant, extreme runny nose that is yellow/green in color.

  • OR has had any of these symptoms within the last 24 hours.

  • OR if your child is not feeling well enough to play and participate in regular daily activities.

  • Children suffering from a common cold will be assessed on an individual basis.
Factors of consideration include the developmental level of your child in congruence with my ability to limit the spread of germs. The younger your child, the more difficult it is to keep the spread of germs down. For example: hand to face contact, mouthing of toys, uncontrolled nasal discharge, uncovered sneezing and coughing etc.

  • Should the child become ill during his/her day here, parents will be notified and we will determine the best course of action concerning appropriate care, which may include the child being taken home.

  • If a child is thought to have a communicable disease, parents will be notified and asked to pick him/her up. The child will be isolated from the other children and given special attention and comfort until the parents arrive. The child will be accepted back when no longer contagious. All other parents will be notified of the possibility of a communicable disease and what symptoms to watch for.

ABSENCES/SICK DAYS

  • CHILD absences (due to sickness, parent days off, vacation, ect.) WILL NOT reduce tuition.

  • SICK DAYS where the daycare closes down will be called by the provider ONLY when provider is extremely ill-- vomiting, fever, anything contagious other than a cold-- strep throat, flu, ect. If a sick day is called, parents will be notified asap, usually very early in the morning.

  • Additionally, Parents will be notified when provider is sick but will still be open to give you the option to keep your kids home to prevent the spread of germs. This decision will be entirely up to the parents.

First Aid/Medical Emergencies

  • All employees have first aid and cpr training in addition to training in administering medication and handling allergic reactions.

  • Minor bumps and scratches are inevitable, but we make every effort to keep the children safe through supervision and childproofing.

  • Minor injuries receive appropriate first aid, and if a more serious injury or illness occurs, you will be contacted as soon as possible.

  • In an emergency, 911 will be called.
